St. George Restaurants

The New York Times called the Painted Pony the best restaurant in St. George, and “probably the best between Vegas and Salt Lake.” Travelers visiting the area to sightsee in nearby Zion National Park are pleasantly surprised that a small metropolitan area such as St. George is home to such a high-caliber fine dining establishment. Specializing in contemporary American cuisine, as well as steak and seafood, two of the restaurant’s most popular entrees are its sesame-crusted, line-caught escolar and its pan-roasted rack of lamb. Gourmet sandwiches and salads are available for lunch. The restaurant boasts patio dining and full liquor service.

The Painted Pony is centrally located near the corner of Main Street and St. George Boulevard, in the St. George Historic District. The restaurant overlooks Ancestor Square, one of St. George’s most quaint shopping centers. Boasting a unique collection of shops, galleries and restaurants, Ancestor Square features a common courtyard with a pond full of Koi, a babbling brook, the Old Jail House and a grassy and shady plaza. One of the square’s most distinct tenants is S Galllery, which offers interesting paintings, pottery and candles, as well as one-of-a-kind custom furniture for its patron’s viewing pleasure.

Not only is The Painted Pony a great place to start your night out on the town in St. George, it is also an ideal location for private parties. Our garden room can accommodate up to 24 guests for events such as wedding dinners and business luncheons. Occasionally, The Painted Pony hosts a live jazz night featuring local artists. On Valentine’s Day and New Years Day, the restaurant features special “tasting menus,” which include items not of the regular fare. Past delicacies appearing on tasting menus include caviar, morel mushrooms, and quail eggs.
